What is an outbound sales associate?

Outbound Sales Associates are professionals responsible for initiating contact with potential customers, typically by phone, email, or other communication channels, to promote and sell a company's products or services. Unlike inbound sales, which respond to customer inquiries, outbound sales associates proactively reach out to generate leads and close sales. Their duties often include identifying prospects, making cold calls, following up on leads, and maintaining detailed records of customer interactions. Strong communication and persuasion skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an outbound sales associate?

To thrive as an Outbound Sales Associate, you need strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent sales experience. Familiarity with CRM software, call center systems, and sales tracking tools is typically required. Resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude are vital soft skills that help you handle rejection and build rapport with potential clients. These skills drive successful lead generation, customer acquisition, and achievement of sales targets in a competitive environment.

What are some common challenges faced by outbound sales associates and how can they be overcome?

Outbound Sales Associates often encounter challenges such as handling rejection, reaching decision-makers, and maintaining motivation during cold-calling campaigns. To overcome these, it's important to develop resilience, actively seek feedback, and continually refine your sales pitch. Collaborating with team members to share successful strategies and participating in regular training sessions can also help improve performance and confidence. Building a supportive environment and celebrating small wins can make the role more rewarding and sustainable.

Reports to: Assistant Manager - Sales
FLSA Status: Part time, Non-Exempt
Summary: We’re looking for a friendly, driven, and detail-oriented Front Desk and Sales Associate to be the welcoming face of our Front Desk. • Guide families through the student registration process using effective sales and customer service techniques.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally, with a solution driven approach.
  • Assist families with merchandise and vending purchases.
  • Make calls to resolve open account issues with professionalism and care.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked front desk, snack area, changing rooms, restrooms, and lobby area.
  • Enforce safety rules and administer first aid when necessary.
What We’re Looking For:

  • Comfortable learning new software - we’ll train you on our systems.
  • Organized, dependable, and proactive about following through on tasks and commitments.
  • Previous customer service or administrative experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Required to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications through Goldfish Swim School.
  • Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.
 What Success Looks Like:
  • Every family who calls or walks in leaves feeling heard, helped, and excited to enroll.
  • Enrollment numbers grow because follow-up is consistent and conversations are genuine.
  • The front desk runs smoothly - schedules are ready, check-ins are seamless, and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Families feel confident they’re in the right place from their very first interaction.
Our Culture: At Goldfish Swim School, we believe every child deserves to be safe in and around water. Our team is passionate, people-first, and committed to a golden experience every day. As a Front Desk and Sales Associate, you’re often the very first voice a family hears - and the reason they choose us.
