Aspire Communications is seeking an experienced OSP Field Engineer to support our fiber construction operations throughout Central Florida.

The primary focus of this position is field coordination, RBG completion, utility coordination, and resolution of field conflicts that could impact construction schedules. This role will work closely with engineering, construction crews, utility owners, municipalities, contractors, and internal project teams to identify issues in the field and keep projects moving toward completion.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with OSP fiber construction, utility coordination, RBGs, permitting, ROW requirements, and Central Florida infrastructure projects.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:ย 

  • Complete, coordinate, and track RBGs and related field requirements.
  • Coordinate with utility owners to identify, document, and resolve utility conflicts.
  • Perform field verification of existing infrastructure, utilities, ROW conditions, and proposed fiber routes.
  • Identify OSP constructability issues before and during construction.
  • Work directly with contractors and field crews to resolve construction conflicts.
  • Coordinate with FDOT, municipalities, utility companies, property owners, and other agencies as required.
  • Support permitting and ROW activities and help resolve permit-related field issues.
  • Review plans and proposed construction against actual field conditions.
  • Document field conditions through photographs, notes, measurements, markups, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate field changes and issues to engineering, construction, and project management teams.
  • Assist with new OSP/ISP projects as they transition from design and permitting into construction.
  • Help ensure construction activities remain compliant with approved plans, permits, ROW requirements, and utility requirements.
  • Participate in project walks, pre-construction meetings, utility coordination meetings, and field meetings.
  • Assist with resolving customer, municipality, utility, and contractor issues related to construction.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and provide timely updates on outstanding field issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Aspire Communications' construction operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in OSP telecommunications, fiber construction, utility coordination, field engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of underground fiber construction and OSP infrastructure.
  • Experience identifying and resolving field conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret OSP construction plans, maps, permits, and utility plans.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and coordinate multiple issues and projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Central Florida as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Central Florida OSP/fiber construction experience.
  • Experience working with FDOT and Central Florida municipalities.
  • Experience coordinating with electric, gas, water, telecommunications, and other utility owners.
  • Experience with RBGs, utility coordination, ROW, permitting, and utility conflict resolution.
  • Experience working directly with fiber construction contractors and underground crews.
  • Familiarity with Central Florida permitting and ROW processes.
  • Experience with fiber mapping, GIS, or OSP design platforms.
  • Previous field engineering or construction management experience in telecommunications.
