Pay range for this position is $34.25 - $51.13/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The Orthopedic Nurse navigator (ONN) guides and supports orthopedic patients through the perioperative surgical preparation process through their hospital stay and until 90 days post discharge, acting as a liaison between patient, surgery, anesthesia, surgeon offices, preoperative areas, emergency department, and inpatient nursing units. The ONN ensures safe, efficient and accurate preparation of the patient for their surgical experience in a patient centered continuum, including coordination of preoperative patient education and discharge planning. The ONN serves as the primary pre-surgical contact for patient, family, surgeon and surgical office staff and functions as the nursing resource for problem identification and resolution prior to surgical intervention. The ONN responds to any special patient needs requiring individual assistance and develops and maintains a consistent, reliable line of communication and collaboration between patient and all staff involved with surgical services and post procedure care including but not limited to case management, rehab services, home care, and pharmacy.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Three years experience in pre-surgical area (preadmission testing, ambulatory surgery department) or medical/surgical nursing with experience in orthopedic patient care, surgical office, operating room or ambulatory surgery.
  • Working knowledge of perioperative patient care processes.
  • Current Illinois RN License. Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant throughout adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be preapproved by Org Dev/Human Resources-completed prior to employment.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MSN Certification in Orthopedic Nursing
  • Experience in case management/care coordination
