Pay range for this position is $34.25 - $51.13/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Life Flight Nurse provides high quality nursing care including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Life Flight Medical Director. Provides quality patient care to achieve optimal outcomes along with thorough and high quality documentation of patient care. Self-motivated to actively increase knowledge base and ability to convert that knowledge into quality practice, improving patient outcomes and team dynamics. Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical patient to the appropriate facility. Must maintain all requirements for flight status to ensure ability to provide care for patients across the life span. Responsible for carrying out and supporting the mission and goals of OSF Life Flight and assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Experience:
  • 5 years critical care nursing or 2 years pre-hospital critical care transport in addition to 3 years critical care nursing
License/Certifications:
  • CFRN Certification within 2 years of hire.
  • NRP, TNCC/TNS/TNATC, ITLS/PHTLS within 6 months of hire
  • Employees' weight shall not exceed 250 pounds in full flight gear (flight suit, boots, helmet and coat) to maintain the aircraft at a gross weight to allow maximum performance and safety under atmospheric conditions
  • Current RN license(s) for states of practice
  • EMS certification/licensure as required by state regulations
  • Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS
Other skills/knowledge:
  • Skills as required to practice nursing as defined by assigned state scope of practice and advanced practice skills as defined by Medical Director and Medical Standards and Guidelines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • BSN or Bachelor degree in health-related field
Experience:
  • Pre-hospital Critical Care Transport experience
  • Rotor Flight Nurse experience
