An orthopedic surgeon assistant helps the orthopedic surgeon and works under their supervision. Your responsibilities in this career include performing problem-focused or comprehensive physical examinations, filling out patient histories, aiding with diagnostic procedures for a patient, and correlating and interpreting laboratory data. Other duties include assisting the doctor with an operation, helping with all pre-operative and post-operative medical care, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, and collecting, performing, and ordering laboratory work, such as tissue or blood specimens. As an orthopedic surgery assistant, you also screen, counsel, and evaluate patients regarding their health and aid them in finding appropriate resources for continuing care.
