About the role
The Orthodontic Assistant at Imagine Orthodontic Studio provides high-level chairside support and technical dental assistance. This role focuses on the specialized fabrication and fitting of orthodontic appliances under the direction of an orthodontist. We seek passionate individuals dedicated to our people-first culture and exceptional patient care.
What you'll do
Clinical Procedures & Technical Excellence
  • Appliance Fabrication: Fabricate and fit orthodontic appliances and materials, including the preparation of teeth for bracket and band placement.
  • Archwire Management: Prepare, place, and secure orthodontic wires and ligature ties.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide chairside assistance to the orthodontist during specialized dental procedures.
  • Sterilization & Readiness: Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment in accordance with regulations and OSHA guidelines.
  • Impression Taking: Cast and trim diagnostic models and take impressions of patients' teeth for study.

Patient Education & Record Keeping
  • Hygiene Instruction: Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-operative instructions.
  • Clinical Documentation: Record treatment information in patient records and complete accurate clinical notes.
  • Radiology: Expose dental diagnostic x-rays as required for treatment planning.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical dental office.
  • Clinical Skills: Familiarity with standard dental infection control, sterilization protocols, OSHA guidelines, and basic chairside assisting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dental practice management software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized Experience: 3-5 years of direct experience in an orthodontic practice performing chairside orthodontic procedures (e.g., archwire changes, appliance fit/fabrication, diagnostic impressions).
  • Certifications: State-specific Dental Assistant registration or COA (Certified Orthodontic Assistant) credential.
  • Radiology: Active Dental Radiography / X-ray certification.
  • Linguistic: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
