Job description

MH: Physical Therapy-(Full Time, Days) - 

Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant performs services planned, delegated and is supervised by the Physical Therapist. Assists patients to prevent disability and aims toward the promotion of maximal patient and caregiver participation and responsibility for the recovery program following disease, Injury, surgery or loss of a body part. Provides care according to Physical Therapy Department policies and procedures and the application of treatment techniques in accordance with discipline specific designated practice act. Provides services to patients under physician's orders. Fosters a constructive and supportive approach to department operations. Promotes professional and cordial relationships. Understands economic constraints and practices are designed to conserve resources. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited education program or passed the Physical Therapy Assistant Exam approved by the Physical Therapy Board of California required. Minimum of one year of recent experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of required equipment, assessment tools, and Home Medical Equipment (HME). Knowledgeable in documentation required by regulatory agencies.  Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
Licensures and Certifications: Current License from the Physical Therapy Board of California required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
