Production Operator

Industry: Nutraceutical Ingredients & Specialty Chemicals Manufacturer-Distributor /Supply Chain Mgmt

Location: 141 Sheridan Drive, Naugatuck, Connecticut

Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Reports to: Production Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Production Operator will be responsible for a variety of duties. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

MANUFACTURING

  • Weigh ingredients for production as per instructions on batch record

  • Load products onto machines

  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment- blenders, granulators, mill, etc.

  • Stage utensils for manufacturing

  • Load products onto trays for drying

  • Assist in milling products

CLEANING

  • Clean equipment before and after use

  • Clean manufacturing rooms and warehouse

PACKAGING AND LABELING

  • Weigh and pack finished products

  • Apply labels on packaged product containers

PROCEDURES

  • Written standard operating procedures must be followed at all stages in manufacturing

  • Follow proper hygiene and safety protocols as per written procedures

  • Document cleaning on logs for all equipment

OTHER

  • Operate a Forklift

  • Prepare trays

  • Prepare cartons and drums for packing

  • Collect trash on premises, place in collection bin

  • Cross-train on tray washing, floor washing and production area sanitation.

  • Cross-train to back-up warehouse house (shipping and receiving)

Other duties as assigned

*Note: Must be able to safely lift 60 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High School degree is required. Associate’s and/or Trade Degree is a plus. Valid Driver’s License & Car Required. Forklift Certification preferred. 1-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. This job requires someone who is self-motivated, able to perform work while standing for most of the day. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The job requires someone who is comfortable operating a forklift.
