What is the difference between Organized vs Administrative Assistant?
| Aspect | Organized | Administrative Assistant |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Varies; often includes organizational or project management skills | High school diploma; often some college or certification in office administration |
| Work Environment | Project-based, event planning, or team coordination settings | Office settings, handling clerical tasks |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used across industries for project coordination | Common in corporate, healthcare, education sectors |
| Search & Comparison Intent | Focuses on organizational skills and project management | Focuses on administrative and clerical duties |
While both roles require strong organizational skills, an Organized professional typically focuses on managing projects and coordinating tasks, whereas an Administrative Assistant handles clerical duties and office support. Understanding these differences helps employers and job seekers target the right skills and responsibilities for each role.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong political analysis with grassroots organizing skills, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is deeply committed to building community power. The Electoral Organizer will recruit and supervise volunteers, drive data-informed outreach strategies, and leverage organizing tools to maximize voter contact and impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute data-driven voter engagement strategies, including voter registration, education, persuasion, and turnout efforts.
- Apply political analysis of regional and local dynamics to refine targeting, messaging, and outreach plans.
- Lead Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts and coordinate election-day operations.
- Track performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve effectiveness and reach.
- Recruit, train, and directly supervise volunteers and volunteer leaders.
- Build a strong volunteer pipeline and foster leadership development.
- Set goals, monitor performance, and provide coaching to ensure high-quality voter contact.
- Build and maintain relationships with voters, community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Represent COPAL at community events, coalition meetings, and public forums.
- Gather community insights and integrate feedback into organizing strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach activities, contacts, and volunteer engagement.
- Utilize EveryAction to support voter targeting, list management, reporting, and program evaluation.
- Analyze outreach data to inform decision-making and improve campaign outcomes.
- Produce regular reports and updates for the Political Director.
- Coordinate voter education events, trainings, forums, and outreach activities.
- Manage logistics and ensure programs are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate, including funder site visits, membership outreach, and donor phone banking.
What You Bring
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Previous experience working with Latine and immigrant communities.
- Previous experience using EveryAction or similar voter database systems.
- Commitment to COPAL's mission and building community political power.
- Previous experience in electoral organizing, political campaigns, grassroots advocacy, or related community engagement work.
- Previous experience with recruiting, coordinating, training, or supervising volunteers, teams, or community members.
- Strong political analysis skills and understanding of electoral dynamics.
- The ability to use data, metrics, and reporting to inform strategy and decision-making.
- The ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- The ability to travel to work sites and community locations within a 15-mile radius of the office.
- The ability to walk for extended periods while conducting canvassing and outreach activities.
- A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet COPAL’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
Diversity and open expression are fundamental to the work of COPAL. We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment where everyone can belong. Every member of our team enriches our work by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the world, identify challenges, and to discover, design, and deliver solutions.
