Equipment Technician @ Rodeo Dunes

Lever Organic

Roggen, CO

$22 - $24/hr

Full-time

Re-posted 9 days ago

Job description

Where soul-stirring golf meets the spirit of the American West. Rodeo Dunes is a public golf resort developed by Michael Keiser, owner of Sand Valley Resort. Set on over 4,000 acres of towering sand dunes reminiscent of the southwest coast of Ireland, Rodeo Dunes is set to become a world-class golf destination. Two course routings are complete – one by the acclaimed duo of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and the other marking the solo debut of longtime C&C associate, Jimmy Craig. Construction began in the summer of 2024. With a rollicking, sandy dunescape, welcoming Western hospitality, and inspiring long views of the Rocky Mountains, Rodeo Dunes will introduce guests to a historic - but new to many - region of Colorado. Rodeo Dunes is located less than an hour from Denver and Denver International Airport, and just a short drive from the Fort Collins and Colorado Springs areas.

Position Summary:

As an Equipment Tech, you will play a vital role in maintaining Rodeo Dunes’s cutting-edge equipment used for course maintenance. This position allows you to leverage your technical skills and problem-solving abilities to ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency. You will assist in leading a team of technicians while performing essential repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on a variety of equipment. Ultimately, your work will contribute to the smooth operation of our world-class golf courses.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various golf course machinery, including mowers, utility vehicles, and specialized equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery function at optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Utilize diagnostic tools and mechanical expertise to identify and address issues with engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Perform necessary repairs to maintain equipment functionality.
  • Reel & Cutting Adjustments: Adjust and replace reels, modify cutting heights, and ensure quality turf maintenance and desired cut quality across the course.
  • Grinding & Sharpening: Ensure turf quality by grinding and sharpening cutting units for precise mowing and a consistent cut.
  • Shop & Tool Management: Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment, ensuring all equipment and tools are ready for use.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work in close coordination with the Equipment Manager and fellow technicians to address course equipment needs. Communicate effectively with other departments to anticipate upcoming needs and provide proactive maintenance solutions.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in training equipment operators and technicians on machinery operation, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff to develop their skills.
  • Custom Fabrication: Perform in-house repairs and fabricate custom components to reduce reliance on external vendors, saving time and operational costs.
  • Budget & Inventory Management: Support the tracking and management of the repair and maintenance budget, including inventory of parts, oils, fuel, and consumables.
  • Winter Maintenance & Equipment Preparation: Assist with preparing equipment for the off-season and ensure readiness for the next season by performing necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Facility Management: Help maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment, ensuring that all equipment storage areas are free of hazards and conducive to efficient workflow.
  • Fleet & Equipment Tracking: Monitor and track equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory using fleet management systems to ensure smooth operational flow.

Works Closely With:

  • Equipment Manager and Agronomy Team

Machine/Equipment/Tools Used:
Utility vehicles, mowing equipment, sprayers, tractors, loaders, company vehicles, heavy machinery, equipment lifts, grinding equipment, welders, and a variety of hand and air tools.

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Experience: 5+ years in equipment repair and maintenance, ideally in the golf or resort industry.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated mechanical proficiency, troubleshooting expertise, and ability to assess and repair complex equipment systems with minimal supervision. Strong knowledge of gas, diesel, 2-cycle engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, other departments, and vendors.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as operating heavy machinery and working in varying positions (standing, bending, kneeling) for extended periods.
  • Licenses & Certification: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with golf course equipment, strong mentoring and training skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Perks:
  • Comprehensive Benefits
  • Paid Time Off
  • Complimentary Golf
  • Retail & Restaurant Discounts
  • Uniform Allowance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

We believe in fair and transparent pay practices. As part of our commitment to equity and clarity, we are disclosing the compensation range for this position:

  • Hourly Rate: $22 - $24 per hour
