What does an order picking associate do?

An Order Picking Associate is responsible for locating, retrieving, and preparing items in a warehouse or distribution center to fulfill customer orders. Their tasks typically include reading order slips, using handheld scanners, operating warehouse equipment, and ensuring items are accurately picked and ready for shipment. Order Picking Associates play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring timely delivery of products to customers. Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are important for this role.

To address these, many companies provide thorough training on inventory systems, encourage teamwork to split workloads, and implement ergonomic practices to reduce physical strain. Staying organized and communicating effectively with supervisors and team members can also help streamline the picking process and minimize errors.
