POSITION OVERVIEW

The Order Filler plays a critical role in ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, staged, loaded, and prepared for delivery or customer pickup. This position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse and yard environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse personnel to ensure orders are filled accurately and on time. The Order Filler directly contributes to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the operation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately pull, stage, and prepare customer orders according to invoices, pick tickets, and customer specifications.
  • Verify quantities, dimensions, and product descriptions to ensure order accuracy.
  • Load and unload building materials safely and efficiently.
  • Organize and stage materials for customer pickup and delivery routes.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist customers with loading materials into vehicles.
  • Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations and assist with inventory counts as needed.
  • Read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, and customer requests.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations to verify quantities, measurements, and material counts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, dispatchers, and coworkers to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist with general warehouse and yard duties as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous warehouse, lumberyard, building materials, or distribution experience.
  • Forklift experience or certification preferred.
  • Building material knowledge preferred.
  • Previous order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, or logistics experience preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED preferred. Previous warehouse, order fulfillment, shipping/receiving, building materials, or related experience is preferred but not required.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate quantities, measurements, and product counts accurately.
  • Ability to verify order quantities and dimensions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, push, pull, and reach. Employees must be capable of frequently lifting, carrying, and moving heavy and awkward building materials. The position requires working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
