Job description

The Sous Chef plays a critical role in supporting the kitchen operations by overseeing food preparation, managing inventory, and ensuring quality and safety standards in fast-paced casual and fine dining environments. Reporting directly to the Head Chef and Restaurant Owner, the Sous Chef leads a small kitchen team, coordinating staff and contributing to menu and recipe development. This position offers growth opportunities toward advancing to the Executive Chef role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
  • Plan menus in collaboration with the Head Chef
  • Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate team efforts
  • Manage inventory and control stock levels to minimize waste
  • Train new and existing staff to maintain high performance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Oversee order management and timely delivery of kitchen output
