Job description

The practice of doctors Lawrence Handler, MD & Zachary Pearce, DO, specializes in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This unique specialty treats the eyelids, eyebrows, tear duct system, orbit, and surrounding areas of the face.

Our goal is to provide you with the most positive and rewarding experience possible. Our staff prides itself in treating everyone in a courteous, comforting manner.


We are currently hiring a Medical Assistant who is passionate about customer service to join our Team as an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant. The Ophthalmic Medical Assistant will support a high-volume practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to patients in need of complete eye care services.

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

Ophthalmic skills (upon completion of training) include but are not limited to:

  • Obtaining and documenting patient history
  • Determining visual acuity
  • Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by the physician
  • Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, Scribing
  • Assisting with Clinical Procedures
  • Providing patient services
  • Maintaining equipment and instruments

  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required
  • Must be flexible with traveling to various locations as needed
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable
  • The ability to recognize inconsistencies
