General Statement
In support of the Montana State University mission, University Information Technology (UIT) promotes, develops, delivers, and facilitates the use of information technology services and resources. The Enterprise Services Group is responsible for technical support of all major computer-based administrative applications for the four-campus MSU system. MSU uses Ellucian Banner software , running on an Oracle database, for the majority of its administrative tasks. Primary modules include Human Resources , Finance, Student, and Financial Aid.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Services, the Lead Systems Analyst performs professional level work implementing and supporting the on-going operations for the EllucianBanner information system and for related custom applications and workflows used with the Finance information systems across the four-campuses of Montana State University. .
The Banner Finance Lead Systems Analyst will:
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the ESG-Finance team
  • Collaborate directly with the Finance business counterparts to identify priority development and support efforts for Finance information systems across MSU campuses
  • Foster positive and effective working relationships
  • Provide systems analysis including assessing user requirements, analyzing alternatives, designing preferred solutions, specifying technical requirements, developing software modules, implementing solutions, and maintaining major software systems
  • Manage projects and tasks associated with development and maintenance efforts
  • Coordinate technical problem resolution
  • Participate in joint efforts with other Banner teams and committees that interface or interact with Banner Finance systems.
  • Serve on other university committees providing leadership and technical counsel.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, plus recent directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Successful experience analyzing, designing, specifying, developing, programming, enhancing, and implementing complex administrative application systems that use relational database management systems and transaction processing techniques.
  3. Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with varied constituents using appropriate interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of, and current intermediate or expert experience in applications programming with an emphasis on SQL, PL/SQL, and/or database driven programming with modern software development tools.
  5. Successful experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing user requests, and delegating tasks to team members.
  6. Successful experience hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Experience with university ERP systems (Ellucian Banner preferred).
  2. Experience with design, development, and deployment of integration components.
  3. Experience with design, development, deployment, and maintenance of applications employing ORACLE enterprise-wide relational database management systems, SQL, PL/SQL, or other modern software architecture.
  4. Experience using reporting development tools.
