Job Purpose
The Product Support Specialist is responsible for administering manufacturer warranty claims for Herc-owned equipment. This role evaluates equipment failures to determine warranty eligibility, submits and manages claims in accordance with manufacturer requirements, and tracks reimbursement through completion. The specialist works independently once trained and serves as a key liaison between Herc branch personnel and equipment manufacturers to minimize equipment downtime and maximize warranty recovery.
What you will do...
  • Review work orders to determine whether equipment failures fall within manufacturer warranty guidelines or qualify for goodwill or extended warranty consideration.
  • Submit warranty claims accurately and timely through manufacturer warranty systems and portals.
  • Monitor and manage open warranty claims to ensure proper disposition, reimbursement, and processing by Accounting.
  • Work directly with manufacturer representatives to negotiate additional warranty coverage for repetitive failures or failures occurring shortly outside standard warranty periods.
  • Provide ongoing support to branch technicians and management to reduce equipment downtime for assigned manufacturers.
  • Ensure all warranty claims are submitted within 30 days of receipt.
  • Identify and resolve aged warranty claims, ensuring claims are closed or disposed of within 90 days.
  • Review and submit all warranty claims related to work orders received during the current month.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Technical schooling and/or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of office or administrative experience.
  • Fleet experience preferred.
  • Maintenance or equipment service experience preferred.

Skills
  • Mid to advanced proficiency with computer software applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or Counter software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel (including formulas).
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
