Job description

job summary:

Senior Full Stack Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help modernize critical legacy business systems into reliable, maintainable, and well-tested applications using .NET 8, Angular, SQL Server, and disciplined Azure DevOps delivery practices. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can understand complex legacy behavior, preserve established business rules with accuracy, and rebuild functionality using modern architecture, clean code, and AI-assisted development workflows.

What You'll Do

Design and build .NET 8 services and Angular front ends that replace legacy modules while preserving decades of business rules with verified fidelity.

Migrate schemas and data from Ingres to SQL Server, including the reconciliation work needed to prove correctness.

Reconstruct system behavior from legacy source code and SME interviews before re-implementing it in modern platforms.

Apply LLM-assisted workflows to analysis, code, tests, and documentation while following team standards for verification, review, and quality.

Deliver software through Azure DevOps using code reviews, automated tests, CI/CD discipline, and production-ready engineering practices.

Partner with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teammates to clarify requirements, document decisions, and reduce migration risk.

Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design documentation, implementation plans, and production support readiness.

What You Bring

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including senior-level ownership from design through production support.

Strong problem-solving ability, intellectual curiosity, and a self-driven approach to learning unfamiliar systems and domains.

Deep expertise in .NET, including C#, ASP.NET Core, async and concurrency patterns, dependency injection, EF Core performance considerations, resilience patterns, observability, and automated testing.

Strong experience with modern Angular, preferably v17+, and strict-mode TypeScript, including signals, RxJS, change detection and performance, and complex reactive forms.

Advanced SQL Server skills, including relational design, T-SQL, execution plans, indexing strategy, concurrency and locking, and schema migrations as code.

Strong system design capability, including decomposing domains into clean boundaries, defending trade-offs against non-functional requirements, and communicating decisions through ADRs and design documentation.

Practical understanding of domain-driven design and incremental migration patterns such as strangler fig and anti-corruption layers.

Daily, beyond-autocomplete proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot agent mode, Claude Code, or comparable tools.

Experience using spec-first workflows, context engineering through repository instructions and prompt files, and disciplined review of AI-generated output as untrusted until tested and verified.

Comfort reading unfamiliar legacy code and establishing what it actually does before modifying or replacing it.

Nice to Have

Exposure to legacy technology stacks such as VB.NET, VB6, OpenROAD, PowerBuilder, Oracle Forms, Ingres, or other legacy relational database platforms.

Familiarity with electric utility environments, including IT/OT operations, operational systems, regulatory expectations, or related business processes.

Experience supporting modernization initiatives where accuracy, auditability, and continuity of existing business behavior are critical.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer who enjoys deep technical analysis, careful modernization, and high-accountability delivery. You are comfortable moving between legacy code, business conversations, modern architecture, database migration, automated testing, and production readiness. You value AI-assisted engineering, but you also know that correctness comes from clear specifications, human review, repeatable tests, and disciplined verification.
