Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Oracle Essbase Data Engineer) within Technology, aligned to the Enterprise Functions Technology Group. This role sits within the Enterprise Risk Audit and Finance Technology Team (ERAFT) and will play a key role in supporting business-critical planning processes for Lines of Business (LOBs), while helping transform and modernize the technology ecosystem that powers them.

This role will design, implement, and support enterprise-scale technology solutions that enable financial forecasting, planning, and reporting across the organization. This position requires deep expertise in Oracle Essbase 21c, multidimensional financial planning applications, and supporting infrastructure, combined with a forward-looking mindset focused on cloud-based data engineering and next-generation analytics platforms.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact

  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs

  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors

  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals

  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

  • Ability to ramp up on the implementation quickly

  • Think outside the box and come up with solutions for day-to-day implementation issues

  • Demonstrate ownership and develop/support the implementation holistically as opposed to specific modules within the implementation

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years experience working with enterprise data and implementing ETL solution with technologies such as Python, Pyspark, Object Storage


Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of working experience in Oracle Essbase 21c and the associated modules

  • Working experience with multi-dimensional databases in financial forecasting and planning space

  • Working experience in implementing and supporting infrastructure associated to Oracle Essbase implementation

  • Demonstrated experience managing and supporting Essbase platforms, underlying infrastructure, and middleware configurations, including capacity planning, high availability, performance optimization, security controls, and production issue resolution.
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Engineering
