Want to be part of this? We currently have an exciting opportunity for Sr Rental Software Engineer to join our Tailored Technology team. This individual will be a member of a team that is responsible for support of a complex custom application that manages the Tuxedo rental business. In addition to support, the individual will be involved in designing, developing, and implementing enhancements for the custom application.
What you'll do
• Provide support for existing custom applications and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Work on multiple projects concurrently and/or manage multiple high-priority user support issues simultaneously.
• Create and support application subsystems, working independently and as a member of a team.
• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle Forms and Reports using version 12c and above.
• Create, modify, and maintain Oracle database stored procedures, packages, functions, and triggers.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing UI and database objects.
• Optimize and perform performance tuning on Oracle SQL queries.
• Write basic Unix scripts for automation and application support tasks.
Future opportunity to migrate legacy SQL PL/SQL packages and database logic into modern Java-based microservices.
• Design and develop scalable microservices using Java/Spring Boot to support system modernization goals.
• Integrate and call REST APIs from both the database and modern microservices layers.
• Additional duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
• 8+ years of successful experience in an application programmer/analyst or software engineering role.
Strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills with 5+ years of hands-on experience working with both back-end and front-end Oracle based applications.
• Demonstrated experience working with Oracle databases, including experience working with Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports.
• Experience programming in Java, with a strong understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns is a huge plus.
• Familiarity with legacy modernization projects, specifically refactoring PL/SQL procedures into microservices is desirable.
• Good to have experience with retail solutions, inventory control, order processing, and purchase order management applications.
• Fundamental understanding of relational database concepts including indices, data types, entity relationship diagrams, normalization, cardinality, and data integrity.
• Fundamental understanding of application programming, report writing concepts, software programming architecture, and security model concepts.
• Bring an open outlook towards adopting modern trends like AI.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible and adaptable in a shifting, modernizing environment.
• Highly logical and self-motivated, with a keen eye for detail.
