Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to become an integral part of a team that is responsible for supporting the operations, development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of our client's Oracle Federal Financial EBS (on-premises) system (hosted on the AWS cloud). We are seeking a responsible, results-oriented Oracle DBA with a passion for detail, achievement, and innovative thinking, to provide solid support and advanced solutions to business challenges.

The Oracle DBA is responsible for defining, supporting, securing, and administering Oracle databases to ensure optimal performance and availability. The DBA performs a variety of activities including database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, diagnostics, and issue resolution; and will have the opportunity to grow technically and professionally while working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Provide database administration services including:
    • Apply patches on a timely basis.
    • Create backup and recovery strategies.
    • Provide upgrades and applying upgrade patches when made available by Oracle.
    • Conduct performance tuning/optimization of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) for recoverability, security, confidentiality, and integrity.
    • Ensure data integrity and security are maintained.
    • Perform backups per schedule and when necessary.
  • Evaluate and apply quarterly Oracle released Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) and security vulnerability patches.
  • Interact with Oracle for critical incidents, patches, changes, and upgrades/service bulletins.
  • Manage and administer concurrent managers, concurrent programs, request sets, request groups, workflows.
  • Troubleshoot database issues (e.g., workflow mailer, notifications, user reported, etc.).
  • Manage Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) for regular backups.
  • Manage Data Guard for disaster recovery replication.
  • Utilize Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) Packages, Shell, and Perl scripts for task automation.
  • Review, develop, recommend, enforce, and adhere to agency database policies and standards to provide high availability, replication, archiving, access, and security.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) application software installation and configuration.
  • Enforce measures to maintain database storage capacity for all environments.
  • Identify opportunities to upgrade or replace software to meet the current and future requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and automation.
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation (e.g., designs, etc.).
  • Provide strategic thinking and collaboration with extensive information sharing.
  • Produce all work products and deliverables with quality and on schedule.
Additional Information

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience providing database support for Oracle databases aligned with Oracle applications
  • Proficiency across a wide range of database technologies
  • Experience creating and managing standalone Oracle databases
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues
  • Experience troubleshooting daily Oracle, SQL Server, and/or SQL Cluster issues, including error triage
  • Experience troubleshooting Oracle application related issues as they relate to database development, support, and management
  • Experience performing analysis of Oracle patches and open SRs
  • Experience responding to requests for change (RFCs) for maintenance and/or enhancements
  • Experience performing server maintenance, installing software patches, etc.
  • Experience performing impact analysis of periodically released Oracle product updates
  • Experience establishing and enforcing database security policies, user access controls, and data encryption 
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing database performance
  • Experience planning, implementing, and managing backup and recovery strategies 
  • Ability to create and maintain database documentation (e.g., configurations, procedures, processes, policies, etc.)
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of management and other stakeholders
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field OR Equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
