Oracle DBA

- On behalf on our client in the Oil and Gas sector, Procom Services is looking for one Oracle DBA for a long term contract in Houston TX.


Oracle DBA Job Details


  • Database Administration for Oracle 10g, 11g or 12c.
  • Monitor and manage database and file system backups, logging and archiving, database users and security, database storage, and database performance.
  • Perform performance tuning; implement performance improvements; investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production database incidents.
  • Support multiple Oracle and SQL application systems databases in installation, maintenance, upgrades, and day-to-day administration capacities.
  • Identify, monitor, recommend and implement changes to database applications that insure a satisfactory end-user response time and reliability in database connectivity.
  • Provide expertise and recommendations for physical database design, systems architecture, testing, performance tuning, and implementation, including table and server operating system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and/or review database activity, progress and performance reports; keep accurate documentation.
  • Perform SQL monitoring, debugging and tuning including query performance. Provide recommendations for enhancements and implement configuration changes.
  • Optimize the database environment with respect to data access methods, data integrity, system performance and system availability.
  • Participate in the evaluation, installation, support and on-going system administration and maintenance of monitoring tools and technologies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex and highly available databases (production and non-production), translate logical data models into physical designs.
  • Ensure detailed physical design of data structures and databases comply with enterprise standards, guidelines, procedures, and processes and are successfully implemented.
  • Improve database recover-ability time by creating, maintaining and updating recovery and restore processes.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide after-hours enterprise database and general system on-call support.
  • Designs and deploys best practices for new technologies and implementations as well as knowledge transfer and mentoring to other team members.


Oracle DBA Mandatory Skills


  • Experience with multiple Oracle and SQL application systems databases in installation, maintenance, upgrades, and day-to-day administration capacities.
  • BS Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Oracle DBA experience with Oracle 10g, 11g, or 12c.
