Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator / Developer to own the reliability, security, performance, schema governance, and database-development responsibilities of the Oracle tier supporting the modernized application. The role works closely with the Technical Lead and Middleware Engineer to ensure efficient data access without concentrating unnecessary business logic in the database.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) credential strongly preferred.
Required Experience & Qualifications
• 5+ years of Oracle Database administration and PL/SQL development experience in a production enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, packages, views, indexes, and other database objects.
• Experience with database performance tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing, statistics, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with backup/recovery, high availability, database security, access control, auditing, and change management.
• Experience supporting application modernization, schema/data migration, interface changes, and CI/CD-driven database deployments.
• Experience in FISMA/NIST-aligned or other compliance-driven environments preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain Oracle database environments, including availability, performance, capacity, patch coordination, storage, and operational health.
• Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, views, and other database components in coordination with middleware and architecture standards.
• Review query and schema designs to ensure efficient access patterns and prevent unnecessary duplication or concentration of business logic in the data tier.
• Plan and execute schema changes, data migrations, backfills, conversions, and release-related database changes through controlled processes.
• Implement and support backup, recovery, restore validation, high-availability, and disaster-recovery requirements as applicable.
• Enforce least privilege, access controls, auditing, encryption-related database configurations where applicable, and other required security controls.
• Troubleshoot database performance, locking/blocking, transaction, data-integrity, and connectivity issues in collaboration with application teams.
• Support QA with test-data needs, defect investigations, data validation, and performance-test diagnostics while protecting sensitive data.
• Maintain database documentation, schema/data dictionaries, operational procedures, change records, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Support monitoring/alerting and provide database-level evidence needed for release readiness and operational support.
Core Technical Skills
• Oracle Database administration, PL/SQL development, SQL tuning, execution plans, indexing, and schema design.
• Backup/recovery, high availability, capacity planning, security/access control, auditing, and operational troubleshooting.
