What is Oracle Cost Management?

Oracle Cost Management is a module within the Oracle E-Business Suite that helps organizations track, manage, and analyze the costs associated with their manufacturing, inventory, and supply chain operations. It provides tools for standard costing, actual costing, and activity-based costing, enabling businesses to gain insights into product profitability and operational efficiency. By integrating with other Oracle modules, it supports comprehensive financial reporting, inventory valuation, and cost control across the enterprise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Oracle Cost Management professional?

To thrive as an Oracle Cost Management professional, you need a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and experience with Oracle E-Business Suite or Oracle Cloud Cost Management modules. Familiarity with SQL, Oracle Reporting tools, and relevant certifications such as Oracle Cost Management Cloud certification are highly valuable. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in interpreting data and collaborating with finance and IT teams. These skills ensure accurate cost tracking, compliance, and informed decision-making within complex business environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Oracle Cost Management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Oracle Cost Management often face challenges such as integrating cost data across various modules, ensuring data accuracy, and adapting to frequent changes in business processes. Effective collaboration with finance, operations, and IT teams is essential to streamline workflows and maintain reliable costing information. Staying updated on Oracle system updates and regularly participating in training can help address these challenges and improve efficiency in day-to-day responsibilities.

Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM:
The Corporate Technical team is responsible for building and optimizing the many systems and internal technologies that enable Anduril to accomplish its mission. Anduril's supply chain, accounting, sales & growth, field maintenance, manufacturing, and many more teams rely on the technology built and maintained by us. We call this system-of-systems "CorpOS". Within CorpOS lies a suite of digital software solutions aimed at solving the problems for our growth, finance, people teams that interplays heavily with our ArsenalOS solutions that enable Anduril's engineering, production and sustainment departments.
ABOUT THE JOB:
We are seeking a highly skilled technical Cost and Receipt Accounting Systems Analyst with deep Oracle Cloud Fusion supply chain cost accounting experience to join the team. If you are passionate about the many cross-functional integrated processes that are necessary for defense tech to operate at scale and deliver the advantage to our war fighters, then this may be the opportunity for you. In this role, you will be the primary technical architect and administrator for the financial "engine" of our supply chain. You will ensure that every physical movement in our factories translates into accurate financial data. You will own the configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Oracle's Cost Management and Receipt Accounting modules, ensuring our digital ledgers reflect real-time operational and financial reality.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • System Configuration & Ownership: Act as the Lead Functional Analyst for Oracle Fusion Cost Management and Receipt Accounting, managing cost books, valuation methods (Actual, Standard, or FIFO), and accounting rules.
  • Sub-ledger Reconciliation: Direct the technical resolution of variances between the Receipt Accounting sub-ledger and the General Ledger, ensuring "Received But Not Invoiced" (RBNI) reports are accurate and automated.
  • Data Integrity & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve stuck transactions, costing errors, and interface failures between CorpOS (ERP) and ArsenalOS (Manufacturing/Execution systems/WMS).
  • Cost Accounting Optimization: Define and maintain cost elements, overhead allocation rules, and cost components to ensure accurate "Cost of Goods Sold" (COGS) reporting and inventory valuation.
  • Compliance & Audit Support: Configure systems to meet DCAA and GAAP requirements, ensuring that cost-plus and fixed-price contract accounting is handled with 100% auditability.
  • Release Management: Evaluate quarterly Oracle Fusion updates specifically for impact on costing flows, performing regression testing on automated accounting entries before they hit production.
  • Process Engineering: Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure that physical receiving workflows trigger the correct technical accounting events in the ERP.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing Oracle Cloud Fusion solutions at manufacturing companies (Aerospace & Defense industry preferred). DCAA & CPFF contracting experience a plus.
  • Manufacturing Financials: Deep understanding of Transactional Accounting, including Receipt Accruals, Landed Cost Management (LCM), and Work-in-Process (WIP) costing. Strong understanding the interplay of sales, supply chain, manufacturing and finance processes between CRM, MES, WMS and ERP, with hands on experience leading development of capabilities in Oracle or SAP
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to write SQL queries to extract data for reconciliation and experience using OTBI (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence) for financial reporting.
  • A&D Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with government contracting accounting (CAS, FAR, DCAA) and how these requirements translate into ERP system settings.
  • Systems Thinker: Ability to map a complex physical supply chain into a digital accounting structure without losing data granularity.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent business and technical communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to convey messages in a persuasive manner and at the appropriate level of detail.
  • U.S. Citizen or Greencard Holder status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
  • Ability to be in-office full time and willingness to travel up to 25-50% to visit other sites.
