As a Naval Combat Information Operator in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll operate, configure and analyze equipment and information on board the ship to help ensure your team’s success. This position is available full-time or part-time. Pay & Benefits The CAF offers a range of benefits to ensure members are well supported. These include: Competitive salary starting from $4,337 - $6,413/month for new recruits who join the Regular Force under the Direct Entry plan New pay increases: earn more from the start Signing Bonus paid in installments at key service milestones Training opportunities Vacation, parental, and other types of paid leave Health, dental, and vision coverage Counseling, and relocation support services Pension plan Stimulating workplace that promotes respect, belonging, and work-life balance Overview The primary duties of a Naval Combat Information Operator are to: Configure and operate command and control systems, ships’ radars, intelligence, surveillance and recognizance systems, and more Analyse equipment and system performance on all combat information equipment Perform basic on-line fault diagnostic procedures Collect, correlate, record, analyse, display, and disseminate all tactical information You will find a comprehensive list of the primary duties on the forces.ca website. This position is similar to the following: Marine Information and Systems Operator Maritime Traffic Controller Dispatcher and Radiotelephone Operator To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada; Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except: For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent); For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student; Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education). Required Education The minimum required education to apply for this occupation is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Quebec. Foreign education may be accepted. Direct Entry Plan No previous work experience or career related skills are required.
