Serving all of UnitedHealth Group's digital technology needs, the CDO team is responsible for driving outcomes across nearly 30 million human lives with UnitedHealthcare insurance, a number which puts UHC at the top of the pack as the largest managed care provider in the United States. 

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Gather business requirements and translate them into system architecture, solution flows, and configuration specifications
  • Collaborate with Business Ops, WFM, Portal, Chatbot, CRM, Reporting, Data, QA, and Development teams to ensure endtoend alignment
  • Design solution flows leveraging Lex V2, Bedrock models, Amazon AI Agents, orchestrator logic, Lambda, and DynamoDB
  • Architect digital routing, process flows, and integration points within Amazon Connect
  • Recommend optimal architecture patterns, reusable components, and model selection strategies across GenAI and Amazon Connect ecosystems
  • Ensure all functional and nonfunctional requirements-scalability, performance, reliability, and security-are met
  • Create solution documents, sequence diagrams, integration specs, and configuration maps across interconnected systems
  • Conduct impact analysis, system dependency reviews, and technical feasibility assessments
  • Validate development outputs to ensure alignment with design, requirements, and enterprise architecture standards
  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams to address integration challenges across CRM, reporting, and data layers
  • Identify architecture gaps, risks, and dependencies early and propose mitigation strategies
  • Participate in Sprint planning, grooming, and technical refinement sessions
  • Ensure GenAI bots and workflows follow enterprise design principles and are productionready
  • Support UAT, SIT, and troubleshooting efforts with engineering, QA, and platform teams
  • Promote standardization, reusability, and continuous improvement across all Amazon Connect and GenAI implementations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in application architecture or technical leadership roles
  • Handson experience with Amazon Connect, including digital routing, flows, and channel integrations
  • Solid understanding of GenAI concepts, LLMs, Lex V2, Bedrock models, and conversational AI architectures
  • Experience working with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and Step Functions
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical design documents and system configurations
  • Solid knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns
  • Experience building or integrating chatbots, AI agents, or digital CX flows
  • Solid understanding of scalability, performance tuning, latency optimization, and cloud security
  • Experience collaborating with crossfunctional teams including Product, QA, CRM, WFM, and Data Services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS or GenAI certifications
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and technical grooming practices
  • Solid problem-solving and system analysis skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and provide architectural guidance to developers
  • Solid communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
