Full-time

Medical, Dental, Life, PTO

Re-posted 4 days ago

Job description

Northwest Permanente (NWP) is the largest multispecialty medical group in Oregon and southwest Washington with 1,500+ physicians and 300+ administrative professionals caring for 615,000+ Kaiser Permanente members. Northwest Permanente is owned and led by physicians who earn competitive salaries, without income based on providing individual services. Our medical group comprises board-certified physicians across 50+ specialties.

We invite applications for Board Certified or Board Eligible Ophthalmologist to join our Kaiser Permanente Central Interstate team in Portland, OR. You will join an integrated and compassionate team of physicians and supportive clinical and administrative staff, providing a mix of Pediatric and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. Our Ophthalmologists are part of a truly comprehensive practice, offering the opportunity to work in a connected and comprehensive health care model, with the associated efficiencies. We offer an abundant surgical volume providing care for a full range of ophthalmologic disorders. The amount of subspecialty work will vary based on the needs of our patients and team. In this practice, you will be the primary Pediatric Ophthalmologist so the majority of your patients will be pediatrics with some adult strabismus and general comprehensive call rotations. You will have a 1/2-day surgery block on Tuesday mornings and round once per week for Retinopathy of prematurity at the Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center NICU.

We are looking for team players who want to focus on taking care of patients in a collaborative and supportive environment. We are not financially driven so the business aspects of medicine are removed from patient care. Our model is patient-centric, creating seamless and efficient care across specialties. Our practice uses the latest technology to provide advanced care. You will see a higher acuity of disease while routine exams, including all refractions, and function as the Lead for Pediatric patients seen by our Optometry partners.

What You Can Expect:

  • A call schedule where call is divided equally amongst all providers (general ophthalmology call is shared across our team of ophthalmologists and averages 4-6 weekdays and 4-5 weekends throughout the year)
  • An experienced support staff
  • Access to a physician-friendly advanced Epic EMR
  • Opportunities for leadership positions within the medical group if desired
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility
  • 1.00 and 0.9 FTE (prorated compensation) schedule available.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology

We Provide You:

  • Generous automatic employer-funded pension and retirement contributions totaling 21% of clinician eligible earnings with additional employee contribution optional
  • Competitive compensation that is not based on fee-for-service model
  • Pathway for physicians to become shareholders of Northwest Permanente
  • Paid annual education leave + annual education allowance
  • Comprehensive benefits including largely employer-funded medical, dental insurance premiums, life insurance, and paid leave
  • Complete professional liability coverage provided at no cost, 100% reimbursement for obtaining and maintaining board certification, continuing medical education reimbursement, and in-house CME opportunities

Total Rewards value range of $469,700 - $615,900

Current hiring incentives for this role:

  • Relocation allowance – up to $15,000

The annual salary for this position is $383,200 - $467,300 which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, NWP offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.

Why Northwest Permanente Physicians Work Here

Practicing in an integrated health care model like ours means that our clinicians have instant access to dozens of specialties, which allows for a level of collaboration and comprehensive treatment not found just anywhere. But don’t just take our word for it. Hear what NWP physicians have to say about the collaborative environment they work in, and how this model not only makes their jobs easier – it makes them better doctors.
