Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Optometric Assistant who can effectively multitask between clinical technician duties and optical sales responsibilities and assist the Doctor as needed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with patients, is organized, and thrives in a fast-paced eye care environment.


Key ResponsibilitiesClinical / Technician Duties
  • Pre-test patients prior to eye examinations (auto-refraction, tonometry, visual acuity testing, retinal imaging, etc.)

  • Assist the optometrist during examinations as needed

  • Accurately document patient histories and test results in the electronic health record (EHR)

  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and proper supply levels

  • Educate patients on exam procedures, contact lens care, and prescribed treatments

  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and office safety protocols

Optical amp; Sales Duties
  • Assist patients with frame selection based on prescription, lifestyle, and budget

  • Interpret and explain eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions

  • Recommend lens options such as progressives, anti-reflective coatings, and blue light protection

  • Process optical sales, insurance benefits, and payments

  • Adjust, repair, and properly fit eyewear

  • Place, track, and dispense eyewear and contact lens orders
