Position: Marketing Intern

Reports to: Director of Marketing

The Marketing Intern supports PMG's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the PMG team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, and job knowledge.

We are looking for a motivated Marketing Intern to join our marketing department. This role offers hands-on experience across various marketing channels, providing a foundational understanding of association management marketing. You will work closely with our team to support ongoing initiatives and contribute directly to client success.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following but are not limited to:

  • Schedule content for social media platforms.
  • Design effective social media graphics and writing captions.
  • Design and write copies of email campaigns.
  • Perform basic website edits and updates.
  • Assist with the marketing department for administrative tasks, including updating departmental documents and resources.
  • Execute various graphic design tasks for different marketing collaterals.
  • Update marketing assets for upcoming conferences, ensuring content is current and accurate.
  • Attending marketing department meetings and contributing to discussions.
  • Other related tasks on behalf of PMG marketing

Our Marketing Internship Program

Our Marketing Internship Program offers a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience designed to equip aspiring marketing professionals with practical skills and industry knowledge. You will receive direct mentorship from our Director of Marketing and Visual Marketing Manager, gaining insights that are directly applicable to your future career.

The program progresses through skill-based phases:

Marketing Fundamentals & Administration: You will start by learning the fundamentals of association management marketing, gaining hands-on experience with administrative tasks like updating departmental resources and documents.

Social Media Marketing: Next, you will dive into social media marketing. This includes hands-on experience scheduling posts, then moving on to creating engaging captions and graphics using tools like Canva and AI. You will learn to apply feedback during revisions and ensure all content aligns with client branding.

Conference Marketing: You will then learn about conference marketing, actively creating graphic design assets, and assisting with updating conference deliverables. This phase will also introduce you to how the marketing department collaborates with other departments for conference planning and fulfillment, including sponsor and exhibitor for advertisement fulfillment and procurement.

Email Marketing: Following this, you will learn about email marketing, gaining hands-on experience using various platforms such as Brevo and Constant Contact to build and send campaigns.

Website Editing Basics: You will then cover the basics of WordPress and entry-level website editing using Divi Builder. You will get hands-on by editing web pages and learn the full process from website concept to launch. This phase will also introduce you to key concepts like user experience (UX), conversion rate optimization (CRO), and website accessibility features.

Data-Driven Marketing (Optional): Should you show interest, you will have the opportunity to explore data-driven marketing strategies and the tools used to collect and analyze marketing performance data.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. On occasion, the individual must be able to do moderately demanding physical activity such as handling and opening boxes weighing 35-40 pounds, standing, and walking extensively throughout the day.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree from a university or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation. 
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are important. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff.
  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canva, PowerPoint, Lightroom.
