Optician

Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages. Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses. Perform eye-glass repairs and adjustments. Educate patients and families on proper eye-wear care.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program Preferred

Work Experience:

  • Computer experience Required
  • Previous experience in customer service or eye care setting Required
  • 1 year or more Optician experience Preferred
  • 1 year or more of work experience with processing insurance claims Preferred
  • Optical lab training and/or optometric technician experience Preferred
  • Contact lens training or experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Obtain American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification within 18 months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire and maintain the certification Required
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and/or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification Preferred
