Job description

Gresham Optical and Vision Clinic, located in Gresham, Oregon, is looking for a dedicated optometrist to join their expanding practice. This addition is needed to meet the increasing demand from patients and to provide more scheduling flexibility. If you're ready to elevate your career in a thriving environment and make a meaningful impact on patient care, this opportunity is perfect for you!

Why join us?

Gresham Optical and Vision Clinic, founded in 1988, is a trusted private practice dedicated to protecting and enhancing vision through personalized, compassionate care. With a mission to improve the lives of patients and the community, the clinic provides comprehensive eye care, specialty, and multifocal contact lens fittings, medical eye care for conditions such as glaucoma and dry eye, diabetic eye exams, urgent care, and a full-service optical boutique offering premium eyewear with personalized fittings. The practice integrates advanced diagnostic technology such as OCT, digital retinal imaging, visual fields, and corneal topography, with a modern EHR system to ensure efficient, patient-centered care. Known for its welcoming environment and loyal patient base, Gresham Optical continues to expand its services in specialty care and dry eye management while maintaining a strong focus on accessibility, schedule flexibility, and work-life balance for its team.

What you'll do:
As the newest member of the Gresham Optical and Vision Clinic team, you'll provide comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings (including specialty and multifocal lenses), and medical eye care, including glaucoma management, dry eye treatment, diabetic eye exams, and red eye/urgent visits. You'll take the time to educate patients on their eye health and treatment options, helping them feel informed and cared for at every step. Working alongside a skilled and friendly staff, you'll contribute to a smooth clinic flow while ensuring each patient receives attentive, personalized care. You'll also maintain accurate records by utilizing the modern EHR system, supporting efficient and seamless patient experiences. This part-time role offers 16-24 hours per week (2-3 days with flexible scheduling) with an expected patient volume of 15+ per day, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enjoying a work-life balance.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in or experience with dry eye management, specialty contact lenses, and medical optometry, particularly in glaucoma and diabetes. You should demonstrate strong clinical competence in comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fitting, and medical eye care. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you can build long-term patient relationships. You are patient-focused, displaying a compassionate and professional chairside manner, and are team-oriented, working smoothly alongside staff. Efficiency in time management and documentation in an EHR system is essential, as is the flexibility to adapt to a part-time schedule while maintaining high-quality care.

Why you'll love Gresham:
Gresham is a vibrant community nestled among stunning natural landscapes, including majestic Mount Hood and the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. With its friendly, tight-knit atmosphere and a housing market that offers great affordability compared to nearby Portland, residents enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without sacrificing access to urban amenities. The city boasts a rich tapestry of local events, excellent schools, and convenient transportation options, making it the ideal place to experience the perfect blend of suburban charm and adventure.

You'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive per diem or hourly pay
  • Flexible schedule
  • Malpractice insurance coverage
  • Continuing education allowance
  • Staff support to keep your day running smoothly
  • Production bonus
  • Future partnership consideration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Optometry license in the state of Oregon
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school
  • Strong clinical skills, patient-focused approach, and excellent communication abilities.

Preferred Specialties:

  • Interest in or experience with dry eye management, specialty contact lenses, or medical optometry (glaucoma, diabetes). Open to new graduates with a willingness to grow in these areas.
