Job description

Cape Optical in East Wareham, Massachusetts, is actively seeking an Associate Optometrist to join its trusted, highly rated South Shore practice, which has served the community for more than 25 years. The practice is looking for a professional who will thrive in a collaborative, high-performing, family-style environment where every voice matters. This opportunity offers the chance to make a tangible impact on a loyal patient base, contribute to a positive, and energized team, and help shape the future of a modern, forward-thinking private practice.

Why join us?

Cape Optical has been a trusted eye care provider in East Wareham and the South Shore community for more than 25 years, blending the roots of a long-standing, multi-generational practice with the energy of a growing, modern clinic. Since the current practice began in 2006, its mission has remained focused on delivering high-quality, affordable eye care and eyewear services through experienced professionals, advanced technology, and a deeply personalized patient experience. Its small, collaborative team, including an office manager/optician, technicians, an office assistant, and virtual support, create a close-knit, family-style environment where every voice matters, and positive energy shapes the patient experience. With a newly expanded office designed to support continued technological growth and specialty care, Cape Optical offers an opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking private practice with strong community roots and room for future clinical growth.

What you'll do:

As the newest Associate Optometrist you'll provide full-scope, patient-centered care in a collaborative, close-knit practice environment, conducting comprehensive eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, fitting specialty contact lenses, and managing medical ocular conditions such as glaucoma and dry eye. Cape Optical's advanced diagnostic suite, including Maestro 2 OCTA, RetEval ERG testing, high-resolution fundus photography, Olleyes VR visual fields, Icare, the ORA System, and Revolution EHR, supports efficient, data-driven care and a high-quality patient experience. This role offers 20-32 hours per week, with the option to start part time and grow toward a fuller schedule, and typically includes seeing 15-20 patients per day depending on the day of the week.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution, an active Massachusetts Optometry License with Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents certification and glaucoma treatment privileges, and an active Massachusetts Optometrist Controlled Substance Registration. You bring strong clinical judgment, accurate documentation habits, a clear understanding of healthcare compliance and HIPAA requirements, and a collaborative, relationship-driven approach to full-scope patient care. Cape Optical welcomes specialty interests or certifications, such as advanced dry eye management, myopia control, or specialty contact lens fitting, and is prepared to support an associate who communicates well with patients and team members, brings positive energy to a close-knit practice, and wants to grow clinical offerings while building a long-term future, including potential partnership or ownership opportunities.

Why you'll love East Wareham:
East Wareham offers the charm of a coastal New England community with easy access to the South Shore, Buzzards Bay, and Cape Cod. Known as part of Wareham's "Cranberry Coast," the area blends seaside scenery, local shops and restaurants, outdoor recreation, and a relaxed small-town feel-all without having to cross the Cape bridges. From nearby beaches and boating to cranberry bogs, conservation areas, and everyday conveniences close by, East Wareham provides a welcoming lifestyle for those who enjoy community, natural beauty, and coastal living.

You'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive, comprehensive compensation package
  • Guaranteed base salary
  • Structured Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Continuing education allowance
  • Retirement plan options
  • Professional attire and eyewear allowances

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Optometry license in Massachusetts
