Job description

Psionic, LLC. is seeking an Electro-Optics Lab Technician who will be working in the engineering team to help develop the world's most accurate LiDAR system that targets Space and Defense applications. Primary Responsibilities

The Electro-Optics Lab Technician is a hands-on role that is critical to supporting the development of our systems and meeting our customer expectations.

  • Fabricate optical subassemblies and integrate the subassemblies with electrical and mechanical components for breadboard, prototype, and production units
  • Support transition of photonic subsystem designs into production
  • Order parts, materials and equipment required for assembly and testing of photonic subassemblies
  • Perform optical or electrical testing and characterization as specified by design engineers
  • Organize, document, and present data for review and analysis by engineering
  • Assemble test sets and design and procure test fixtures as required
  • Manage and maintain laboratory and laboratory equipment
  • If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level to perform the job

Required Education & Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check
  • Minimum of two years of experience with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas:
    • Optical fiber splicing processes and equipment, including arc fusion splicers, cleavers, and re-coaters
    • Use of optical sources, power meters, spectrum analyzers and other optical and electrical test equipment
    • Good hands-on skills in the assembly of complex photonic, electro-optic, and electronic assemblies
    • PC board soldering, cable fabrication experience
    • Testing of optical and electrical components
    • Experience with the construction of a range of fiber optic connectors including APC and termini type ferrules
    • Experience with custom, fine assembly
    • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously and working in an environment which
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Associates Degree and/or Certified Fiber Optic Installer/Technician ETA preferred
