The good-faith pay range for this role is $58,200 - $83,500 per year. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.
What your job will be like:
As a member of the SRF Operations Department, the vacuum systems technician will provide lab wide technical support for the maintenance and operation of all vacuum related systems and equipment. This includes both warm (room temperature) and cold (cryogenic temperature) systems. The candidate will utilize their education, experience and expertise in mechanical installation and vacuum systems to support installation, maintenance, and leak detection activities in the Accelerator, Experimental Halls, and other sites and projects. Build assemblies in support of vacuum systems preventive maintenance and development of vacuum related systems. The operation and functionality of vacuum systems along the miles of beamlines contained within the accelerator complex and experimental halls are constantly monitored to ensure timely preventive maintenance or repair.
In this job you will:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and pump-down vacuum and related components and systems lab wide.
  • Maintain, repair, and rebuild all vacuum equipment such as vacuum pumps, valves, and instrumentation to support vacuum systems lab wide.
  • Provide helium leak checking, utilizing mass spectrometers and RGA's, and pressure test support lab wide.
  • Monitor performance and functionality of vacuum systems with help of the JLab control system.
  • Maintain all related quality control documentation of leak checks, pressure tests, and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain the vacuum spare parts inventory.
  • Operate fork lifts, cranes, and manlifts; work at height; work in radiation controlled areas.

Experience
  • Required: 5 or more years relevant experience

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience and Education Exchange
Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to provide input to schedule development.
  • Identifies conflicts and develops solutions.
  • Knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at component and system levels.
  • Team oriented with strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
