PDS Optical is a SDVOSB Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that manufactures a very large number of eyeglasses each day. We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. PDS Optical is looking for an AR Anti-Reflective Manager to join our dedicated team at our Optical Lab! If you have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and the skills to motivate others, we want to hear from you.

The AR Anti-Reflective Manager is responsible for supervising both production shifts within the AR Department. The A.R. Manager is responsible for the strict and efficient processing of the department by planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities of employees all while ensuring productivity and quality goals and customer needs are met. This position reports to the Director of Operations.


This is a full-time position with normal days being Monday through Friday. The schedule may vary slightly but the employee must be available during the "core" hours of the shift. Hours will be discussed during the interview.
Must have at least one year of optical experience and 3 years of leadership experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Must have good computer skills and working knowledge of standard computer equipment.

Salary will be based on relevant experience.

Essential Functions

  • Must have leadership qualities in order to directly manage employees within your department.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the entire AR deposition process, dip coating, curing, testing and chamber operations from start to finish and be able to train employees to the standard.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of various AR equipment operation as well as the cleaning requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper, efficient and consistent workflow throughout the department and editing through proper education and or follow up and training.
  • Carries our management responsibilities in accordance with the organizationโ€™s policies and applicable laws as well as setting a standard of conduct through examples and actions.
  • Responsible for ensuring day-to-day department operation objectives as well as meeting goals in production and breakage areas.
  • You will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; auditing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, scheduling or approving paid time off as needed.
  • Assign, monitor, and maintain employee tasks and production and report production daily on spreadsheet as well as to appropriate supervisors or managers.
  • Monitor your employeesโ€™ working hours, time off, and provide final approval for bi-weekly payroll.

Work Environment

This position is located in our Anti-Reflection Department of our optical laboratory and operates in a production/manufacturing setting. The temperature can sometimes be warm, and the noise level can be somewhat loud. This position requires supervising and working in close proximity to a diverse group of other co-workers.
