Optician and Optical Lab Technician

Reports To

Optical Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and energetic candidate with knowledge on edging lenses with a Santinelli edger.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in selecting frames according to style and color while ensuring that frames coordinate with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit the clients' needs.
  • Edge and cut lenses to specific frames for clientele.
  • Trouble shoot client issues with spectacles.
  • Resolve complaints from clientele.
  • Fill prescriptions within a timely manner. Assist in maintaining inventory of frames, sunglasses and other miscellaneous items related to eyes in general.
  • Rotate inventory in a timely manner in order to keep current frames styles, as well as a variety of styles, on the floor at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory and submit patient insurance information in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the optical areas are clean and displays are presentable.
  • Provide quality care of all clientele.
  • Any other duties as assigned which are necessary to operate any and all of the optical facilities effectively and efficiently.

***** Employees are expected to attend quarterly, mandatory staff meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or an equivalent GED.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as an Optician.
  • Working knowledge of vision plans.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Enjoys the daily challenges of a small team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, but also work effectively with others as a team to accomplish objectives and goals.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow strict schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABO - NCLE Certified
  • Bilingual
