Job description

ATC is seeking a Research Oriented Electro-Optical Engineer with familiarity in the development and demonstration of linear and nonlinear optical systems and devices. You should have experience in the construction of optical systems; experience in the specification, characterization and optimization of components for linear and/or nonlinear optical systems (examples include: lasers/amplifiers and frequency conversion devices); some familiarity with current state-of-the-art in solid state lasers/amplifiers and nonlinear optical materials. Knowledge of and some experience packaging photonics components, subsystems and systems for experimental payloads is desired. Knowledge of related laser-based remote sensing technologies is desired, including coherent and direct detection laser radar, radiometry, Fourier optics, or beam propagation. Your responsibilities in this role will include the following:
Specification and selection/acquisition of linear and/or nonlinear optical components and technologies
Construction and operation of linear optical (imaging and non-imaging) and nonlinear optical breadboard and bench level systems
Laboratory testing and experimental demonstration of optical systems
Supporting prototype development for experimental optical payloads
Assisting in system analysis and integration
Assisting in field demonstration
Contribution to summary reports, oral presentations, and/or technical proposals is expected
