Richardson, TX - Salary Range 100-120k

Job Brief

The Resident Engineer serves as the on-site technical expert supporting the deployment of advanced DWDM optical transport networks for a Fortune 10 hyperscale technology company. This role works closely with both customer engineering and internal service delivery teams to validate network designs, develop equipment integration procedures, and ensure successful deployment of longhaul DWDM platforms including Nokia 1830 PSI-L, GX, Ciena 6500 RLS and Waveserver systems. The position combines design validation, hands-on system commissioning, fiber characterization, troubleshooting, and technical leadership to support optical network deployment activities across North America, Europe, and APAC regions.
This is a full-time in-person position based in Richardson, Texas, splitting time between the corporate office and customer offices.

Responsibilities

  • Enable International Optical Network Deployment, Integration, and Migration Activities Including:

    • Factory Staging, Field Deployment, Site Survey & Fiber Optic Characterization
  • Provide Network Design Validation & Technical Analysis
  • Service in a Technical Leadership Role Supporting Advanced Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution
  • Serve as the Primary Technical Interface With the Customer & 3rd Party Vendors
  • Support Configuration, Documentation & MOP Development
  • Provide Internal & External Training & Technical Development

 

Requirements

  • Extensive Experience With DWDM Optical Transport Systems (CDC-F & CD-A Experience A Plus)
    • Longhaul & Metro Architectures
  • Deep Working Knowledge of Fiber Optic Characterization Testing & Analysis
    • OTDR, OLTS, CD, PMD – Interpreting Results to Drive Remediation Efforts
  • Network Commissioning, Troubleshooting & Migration Experience
  • Nokia 1830 PSI-L & GX Platforms
  • Ciena 6500 RLS & Waveserver Platforms
  • 5+ Years Optical Network Deployment Experience
  • Strong Troubleshooting and Customer Engagement Skills
