Job description

Responsibilities

As a Directional Drill Locator, you will support directional drilling operations for the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. You take pride in doing the job right, working safely, and delivering high-quality results in the field.

In addition, you will:

  • Support the Horizontal Directional Drill Operator by locating and tracking the drill head to ensure accurate bore alignment, depth, and safe routing
  • Read and interpret utility locates, prints, and construction drawings, and coordinate daylighting/potholing of existing underground facilities
  • Ensure the safety of the crew, public, and existing underground utilities while adjusting bore paths for varying terrain and field obstacles
  • Assist with setup, transport, inspection, and troubleshooting of drilling equipment and support vehicles
  • Work 50+ hours per week and travel approximately 50% throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin

Qualifications

About You: 

  • Safety and quality are part of your day-to-day work
  • You enjoy hands-on problem-solving and working alongside your team
  • You have 1–2 years of directional drill locating experience across various type of work sites (urban, rural, residential, etc.)
  • Experience with various Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills
  • Able to read maps, prints, and construction drawings
  • Valid Driver's License with clean record last 3 years. (CDL highly preferred)
  • Interested in long-term projects with the ability to make an impact in your local community
  • Open to Monday–Friday travel with per diem (up to 50% throughout MN/WI) and able to work 50+ hours per week, weather dependent
  • Travel Details:

    · Monday through Friday travel expected.

    · Per diem 5 days a week.

    · 50+ hours per week. Overtime applies after 40 hours per week. Work is weather dependent
