Keysight is at the forefront of technology innovation, delivering breakthroughs and trusted insights in electronic design, simulation, prototyping, test, manufacturing, and optimization. Our ~16,800 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.
Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.
Bring your technical expertise and passion for problem-solving to Keysight as an Inside Application Engineer (IAE) based in our state-of-the-art Technical Center in Colorado Springs, CO. In this customer-facing role, you will partner with leading technology companies to solve some of their most complex measurement challenges while advancing next-generation AI infrastructure, data center networks, and high-speed communications systems.
As an Application Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, helping engineers and technology leaders validate designs, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize performance using Keysight's industry-leading test and measurement solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies including high-speed digital communications, Ethernet, PCIe, optical communications, photonics, and signal integrity applications. You will support Keysight's portfolio of oscilloscopes, BERTs, pulse pattern generators, and photonics test solutions while helping customers validate and optimize the performance of their most advanced designs.
When customers encounter their most challenging measurement and validation problems, they turn to Keysight for answers. In this role, you will apply your expertise, creativity, and engineering insight to help some of the industry's brightest engineers identify solutions, overcome technical obstacles, and drive innovation in AI, data center, networking, and communications technologies.
Working closely with customers, sales teams, R&D, and services organizations, you will identify technical challenges, recommend tailored solutions, and ensure successful deployment of Keysight products and services. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide range of technical audiences.
This Expert-level position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving difficult customer problems, working with emerging technologies, and making a direct impact on some of the world's most innovative semiconductors, networking, and data center companies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and application support to Keysight customers using industry-leading test and measurement solutions, including oscilloscopes, BERTs, pulse pattern generators, and photonics test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex measurement, validation, and test challenges related to high-speed digital and optical communication technologies, helping customers achieve successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements, recommend solutions, and provide guidance on best practices for test, measurement, and automation applications.
  • Partner with a team of engineers to ensure customer inquiries and support requests are addressed promptly and resolved effectively.
  • Document customer interactions, technical findings, and case resolutions within the case management system to ensure accurate tracking and fulfillment of customer commitments.
  • Create, maintain, and publish technical knowledge articles on the Keysight Support Portal to enable customer self-service and help customers resolve test and measurement challenges more efficiently.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences through responsive communication, technical expertise, and a customer-focused approach.
  • Continuously develop and maintain expertise in emerging technologies, industry standards, and Keysight products, with particular focus on high-speed digital communications, optical networking, and photonics applications.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess most or all the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred, PhD a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with 8+ years preferred, in application engineering, design validation, test engineering, signal integrity engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic and optical test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, BERTs, arbitrary waveform generators, and related test solutions.
  • Experience with physical layer design, validation, and troubleshooting of high-speed digital communication technologies such as Ethernet (IEEE and OIF), PCIe, USB, HDMI, DDR, or similar protocols.
  • Experience with signal integrity analysis, high-speed serial communications, and physical layer validation is highly desirable.
  • Experience with optical communications, photonics testing, optical networking, or fiber-optic technologies is highly desirable.
  • Programming and automation experience using one or more languages such as Python, MATLAB, C#, or C++.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex measurements and test challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers in a technical support, consulting, application engineering, field engineering, or other customer-facing engineering environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain advanced technical concepts to customers, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated learner with a passion for developing expertise in emerging technologies, test methodologies, and Keysight solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and support multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
