Job Description

Aramark at High Point University is currently accepting applications for the Hospitality Internship Program!  For full consideration, applications should be received by November 25th, with interviews taking place between December 1st and 12th. However, we will continue to accept applications until the position is filled.  
The Hospitality Internship Program will offer hands-on learning in the various hospitality disciplines within Harvest Table and the Jana and Ken Kahn Hotel. 


The internship position is an opportunity for HPU Hospitality students to be employed in the industry. The real-life work experience combined with a student's academic experience will better prepare students for a career in hospitality.

Selected interns may select to rotate through various disciplines including hotel front office & housekeeping, food & beverage, culinary, special events, and administrative functions such as accounting, human resources, and operations management.  Alternatively, an intern may opt to focus on one or two specific disciplines based on career areas of interest.  In addition to the department specific work experience, interns can expect to receive training and development such as Tips certification, SERV Safe certification, attendance at property meetings and participation in special projects. 

Accepted interns will be required to complete 160 hours; 80 hours with the Kahn Hotel and 80 hours with Harvest Table.  Aramark management will work with the selected interns on scheduling the required work hours over one or more semesters. We will give first consideration to those candidates who wish to complete the entire 160 hours.

Internship candidates will be required to complete the Aramark application and interview process.  This includes applying for the position through the Aramark Career site, agree to complete a satisfactory background check, complete necessary new hire paperwork and attend an orientation session.  Interns will earn at an entry-level wage for hours worked.

Job Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Aramark and the location policies and procedures.
  • Follow property safety protocols.
  • Weekly communication with field supervisor regarding work schedule.
  • Report to work on time, as scheduled in proper uniform.
  • Perform job duties as assigned by department supervisor.
  • Maintain professional relationships with guests and co-workers.
  • Provide pro-active and responsive guest service.
  • Be comfortable to ask and direct questions to department, property or field supervisors.

Qualifications
  • Interns will be approved and in good standing in accordance with the HPU Hospitality guidelines.
  • Has a basic understanding of hospitality services.
  • Possess strong customer service skills and a cheerful outlook.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable communicating to guests and co-workers.

   Limited physical requirements to assist various outlets during peak business demands (i.e., banquet room turns, restaurant bussing, etc.)
