Senior Sanitarians in the Department of Health's district offices play a pivotal role in ensuring that environmental health facility operations meet or exceed standards found in various laws and regulations, as well as public health best practices. Conduct inspections and sanitary surveys at food service establishments, children's camps, hotels/motels, and other sites; review operation reports, sample results, and compliance schedules; and respond to reports of possible contamination at regulated facilities. Prepare inspection reports and correspondence to operators citing deficiencies, and inform operators of corrective actions. When necessary, prepare and present enforcement actions against facilities found to be non-compliant. The selected candidate will also play a critical role in educating operators, owners, and the public regarding environmental health issues, and provide training and technical assistance to facility owners and operators.
