Armed OPOTA-Certified School Security Officer

Armed Security Officer – Jefferson, OH

  • Employment Type: Full-time, school-year position
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
  • Pay: $19.36 per hour
  • Time Off: Summers off
  • Required Certification: Valid Ohio OPOTA Armed Certification
Main Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle
  • Monitor for and report suspicious activity
  • Respond to incidents according to policies and use-of-force guidelines
  • Complete incident reports and daily activity reports (DARs)
  • Enforce site and client policies
  • Provide customer service and access-control support
  • Follow site-specific emergency procedures
Required Qualifications
  • Current OPOTA Armed Certification
  • Personal firearm, Level II or higher retention holster, and duty belt
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Strong report-writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience
  • Military background a plus
  • Criminal justice or public safety education a plus
