What is ophthalmology coding?
What is the difference between Ophthalmology Coding vs Medical Billing Specialist?
| Aspect | Ophthalmology Coding | Medical Billing Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Certifications | CPMA, CPC, CCS-P | Certified Professional Biller (CPB), CPC |

| Industry Usage | Specifically in ophthalmology practices | Across various medical specialties |
| Primary Focus | Assigning accurate procedure and diagnosis codes for ophthalmology services | Managing billing processes, submitting claims, and follow-up |
Ophthalmology Coding focuses on accurately translating ophthalmology procedures into codes for billing and insurance purposes, requiring specialized knowledge of ophthalmic services. Medical Billing Specialists handle the broader billing process across multiple specialties, including claim submission and payment follow-up.
