Job description

Description:

 Retina Associates of Orange County is a retina group of renowned board-certified Ophthalmologists who are fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery and specialize in diseases of the retina, macula and vitreous. Our doctors have a remarkable history that combines teaching at prestigious academic institutions in concert with excellence in patient care in the private practice setting. We are located in Laguna Hills, Newport Beach, and Santa Ana, serving in the southern part of Orange County.

We are looking for a team oriented person with a strong work ethic and good people skills. The Ideal candidate will have a background in ophthalmic technology and experience in patient care and work-up. Position includes pretesting, use of EHR/EMR, assisting in minor procedures. Skills with OCT and other ophthalmic imaging devices a plus.

Requirements:

 Skills required:

  • Ability to complete thorough medical histories? in a EMR system
  • Ability to measure accurate Visual Acuity and IOP
  • Ability to use an OCT machine
  • Knows how to use Electronic Medical Records system
  • Visual Field assessments?
  • Terminology and uses of ophthalmic medications?
  • Ability to interact with patients?
  • Cleans and stocks reception and waiting lobby throughout the day.

Experience

  • Required: Previous experience as an ophthalmic scribe/technician (Minimum 1 year).

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent patient service skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Able to type 60+ WPM

Preferred

  • Bilingual in English/Vietnamese or English/Korean or English/Spanish

Hours: This position generally requires the employee to be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and may require availability on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
