The Role: Seasonal Forklift Operator - with general labour duties*

Availability: Full-time shift with an ability to work mornings or afternoons and occasional overtime, holidays, and weekends.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the transport, retrieval, and storage of pallets within the warehouse/facility.  You will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and will be required to perform general warehouse duties.  This role focuses on delivering a high level of service to our production rooms/distribution centre by delivering the materials and product on a timely manner and maintaining a safe and well-organized warehouse/facility. What you do (responsibilities):

  • Practice safe work and identify unsafe situations to the appropriate individuals
  • Operate forklift and material handling equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring to conduct a pre-driving inspection before use
  • Transport materials in accordance with set standards
  • Log issues with the forklift and report to supervisors
  • Identify and report faulty or damaged racking immediately to supervisors, log issues with forklift and report to supervisors
  • Perform water maintenance on forklift when required
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts or material handling equipment when required
  • Deliver materials to the appropriate location
  • Ensure all materials and skids have the correct labels and information
  • Shipping duties, including building, and wrapping pallets, stocking raw materials
  • Retrieve and deliver materials and moulds as required for production ensuring appropriate and accurate labelling of all items being stored
  • Use a handheld scanner to transfer inventory efficiently, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Stock and replenish shelves, racks, cases, and bins in accordance with the FIFO method
  • *Warehouse: general physical activities in the warehouse, including but not limited to: loading, unloading, sorting, and moving of products and materials
  • *Production: general production duties including, but not limited to, producing high quality Lush products, fill/pour/press/pack/label product accurately, keeping up with production demands
  • Assist Inventory Controllers with inventory counts and inventory organization
  • Conduct daily inventory counts, product rotation checks, investigate and reconcile inventory issues
  • Basic tasks in AX, such as inputting information
  • Supports new or returning staff as required with onboarding, demonstrations of daily duties and responsibilities while ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are being followed
  • Adhere to room/departmental and company policies and best practices for quality, cleanliness, and health and safety
  • Perform general housekeeping and equipment cleaning duties

Who you are (qualifications):

Required:

  • Able to perform all required general labour duties (Distribution Associate, Production Assistant) 
  • Able to do physical work for 8-hour shifts, on your feet and lift 50 pounds
  • Capable of physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending down, pulling, and pushing
  • Flexibility to work within the Distribution, Digital, and Manufacturing businesses as required
  • Can operate basic warehouse equipment (picking carts, handheld scanners, pump-trucks, etc.)
  • Able to organize multiple tasks at the same time and establish priorities
  • Able to remain motivated and engaged in work
  • Able to communicate effectively with others
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as individually
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction
  • Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual, and dependable
  • Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e. in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)
  • Comfortable providing and receiving feedback
  • Flexible to work all shifts and some holidays, overtime, and weekends
  • Commitment to abide by and oversee health & safety regulations
  • Commitment to abide by and oversee our quality and good manufacturing practices
  • Comfortable safely navigating MHE on a regular basis

Preferred:

  • Relevant work experience for at least 1 year
  • Valid forklift certification(s)
  • Practical knowledge of health & safety regulations
  • Experienced with using counterbalance forklifts
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Basic proficiency of Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Experienced with using reach trucks and counterbalance forklifts
