Job description

The Process Operator performs all tasks necessary for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the toll manufacturing processes and related support functions at the ALTIVIA Oxide Chemicals site in Crosby, TX. The Process Operator is responsible for ensuring that this work is performed using methods that meet or exceed all Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Understanding of and an adherence to the standard operating procedures.
  • Effectively trouble-shoot process problems and operating difficulties, including minor repairs as well as unit and equipment isolation requirements for maintenance work.
  • Properly complete all required safety, environmental, production, maintenance and shipping paperwork
  • Complete and maintain all safety training and attend all training meetings.
  • Safely and correctly load, unload and transfer raw materials and final products with an understanding of the associated hazards and PPE requirements
  • Read and understand all batch and blend recipes, verify raw material / packaging availability.
  • Complete monitoring and data entry digitally through HMI associated with various DCS systems as well as manually using log sheets and logbooks.
  • Safely pull samples, perform basic QC tests, and understand how communicate or respond to lab results.
  • Communicate effectively with other operators and supervisors using accurate and precise information
  • Regularly perform housekeeping duties

Experience & Qualifications
  • Process Technology degree and/or 5 years relevant work experience preferred. Batch production experience is a plus.
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays, and able to work overtime.
  • Computer skills to monitor and navigate process control systems
  • Mathematical ability to calculate data
  • Lift and carry weight of up to 50 pounds between floor and waist height (equipment, materials, etc.)
  • Stand, walk, and climb stairways and ladders as needed to move throughout the facilities.
  • Function in a variety of outdoor weather conditions
  • Willing and able to participate on the emergency response team.
