Title: Finishing Operator
Location: Worcester, MA 01606
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (30-minute lunch)
Type: Contingent / W-2
Interview Required: Yes
Position Summary:
The Finishing Operator I sets up and operates multiple machines and uses hand tools to perform repetitive, high-production finishing operations. This role includes grinding, cutting materials to specified dimensions, dressing, speed testing, and small sandblasting operations. Products handled range from initial shaping stages through final finishing.Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation & Equipment
  • Set up and operate finishing equipment, including sandblasters, speed testers, and balancers.

  • Select appropriate tooling and make adjustments in accordance with work orders and production instructions.

  • Use hand and power tools to set up and control production machinery.

  • Monitor machine operations and adjust settings as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.

  • Transfer materials, parts, or finished products to designated work areas using appropriate equipment.

Production Tasks:

  • Load and unload materials or workpieces manually or with hoists.

  • Perform finishing activities including grinding, cutting, trimming, scraping, shaping, and deburring components.

  • Ensure finished products meet required specifications and quality standards.

Documentation & Process Control:

  • Follow work orders, machine instructions, and supervisor direction to determine specifications and operational sequence.

  • Record product and processing data using designated forms or computer systems.

  • Support quality checks and inspections conducted by supervisors or senior operators.

Materials & Products:
Work involves manufacturing and finishing products such as:
  • Abrasive wheels

  • Abrasive segments

  • Ceramic finishing materials

  • Kiln furniture components

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate production machinery and finishing equipment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.

  • Strong attention to quality, safety, and detail.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a high-production environment.
