Job description

The Role:

Grinder employees function as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. The primary responsibility of a Grinder is to grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Deburr, buff or polish materials to specifications

Examine materials to ensure conformance to establish standards.

Verify quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.

Select files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of workpieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.

Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.

Study blueprints or layouts to determine how to lay out workpieces or saw out templates.

Record product and processing data on specified forms.

Complete the required paperwork.

Saw/Heat treat and sandblast parts.

Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts

Standing on a concrete floor

Wearing proper personal protective equipment (face shield, ear plugs, safety shoes, and long sleeve or sleeved apron)

Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally without assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Be 18 years of age or older

Have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent education

Working knowledge of computers

Good mechanical aptitude

Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently

Self-motivated

Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules

Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
