Job description

Position Summary
USA Hockey Arena is seeking a dependable and confident college student interested in gaining hands-on experience in arena operations, sports management and live-event administration. Working under the supervision of arena management, the intern will assist with hockey games and other arena events while learning event staffing, guest service, safety and facility operations.
Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities
• Assist with event-day preparation, staff meetings, operational checklists and closing procedures.
• Work alongside arena management in coordinating off-ice officials, ushers, security, concessions and guest-service staff.
• Assist with crowd management, guest concerns, arena policies, event setup and post-event breakdown.
• Participate in one office day each week focused on event planning, staffing, scheduling and operational preparation.
• Learn facility policies, emergency procedures and event-management practices while receiving regular feedback and mentoring.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a college or university and approved to receive academic credit for the internship.
• Interest in sports management, facility management, event management, hospitality, business or a related field.
• Reliable, punctual, organized and willing to work nights, weekends and occasional holidays.
• Confident, appropriately assertive and strong-willed, with the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations.
• At least 18 years old, with reliable transportation; able to remain on their feet for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
Internship Requirements
This is an unpaid educational internship offered for college credit. The student is responsible for obtaining approval through their college or university before beginning. USA Hockey Arena will provide a designated supervisor and assist with required learning objectives, hour tracking and evaluations. The internship does not guarantee future employment.
