Job description

Job Summary:
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our sample prep team. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the impact of cutting-edge methods, technologies, and applications in DNA purification, molecular microbiology, and genetic engineering.
In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently executing experiments, compiling data, and communicating research findings. You will be mentored by a senior team member to support and effectively guide your contributions to research project objectives.
The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about molecular biology and experimental design. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and have experience in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques.
If you are passionate about directly contributing to scientific advancement alongside industry veterans in a highly collaborative environment, we want you! This position is a part-time internship (maximum of 29 hours per week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct scientific experiments to support product development.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental data.
  • Document experimental results and write SOPs for various processes.
  • Present results and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with other researchers and cross-functional team members.
  • Record and analyze results and regularly present findings and progress to the research team.

Education and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
  • Experience performing molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology techniques, including primer design, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, DNA and RNA purification etc.
  • Experience with microbial cell culture techniques, including media preparation and culturing.
  • A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
